MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 17, 2025 09:11 AM
From: Representative Brandon J. Markosek
To: All House members
Subject: Veterans Outreach Services

Act 66 of 2007 gives critical funding to organizations that provide outreach services to Pennsylvania’s veterans and their families. Specifically, this funding assists organizations such as the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Veterans, and Disabled American Veterans in delivering various services and assistance to veterans and their families.

Due to the ever-growing needs of our veterans and the success of Act 66, I will be introducing legislation that would increase funding for outreach services for veterans. Under this legislation, an additional $1 million would be allocated for the purpose of stabilizing and augmenting services that would help organizations provide competitive pay and training and would increase the number of locations for greater outreach service accessibility. In addition, the funding would assist our veterans service organizations with developing more online and virtual services.

Please join me in ensuring that our veterans outreach service organizations have the necessary resources to continue to provide the assistance our veterans and their families deserve.

Introduced as HB471
