Subject: Tax Exemption for Firefighting Equipment
 
Firefighters provide an essential service in all of our communities. Unfortunately, fire companies are too often underfunded, and many rely on the brave and invaluable work of unpaid volunteers who risk their own safety to protect the health and welfare of others.

Firefighting equipment can cost hundreds or thousands of dollars, and firefighters often pay for this life-saving equipment out of their own pockets. To provide some assistance to our essential first responders, I will be introducing legislation to give a sales tax exemption to firefighters who purchase firefighting equipment with their own money.

Please join me in helping to recognize the irreplaceable service that our firefighters provide.
