MEMORANDUM

Posted: February 20, 2025 10:22 AM
From: Representative Bridget M. Kosierowski and Rep. Tarik Khan
To: All House members
Subject: May 2025 as Nurses Month

Nursing is the largest healthcare profession in the United States, and the work nurses do is truly irreplaceable. Nurses provide care for people of all ages in all sorts of places, including hospitals, doctors’ offices, schools, and long-term care facilities. Nurses work long hours in stressful conditions, unwavering in their dedication to care for their fellow Pennsylvanians. Evidence also shows that a strong nursing workforce increases access to healthcare, reduces health disparities along socioeconomic and racial lines, and improves the health and wellness of our communities.

To demonstrate the appreciation of the Commonwealth for this important profession, we plan to introduce a resolution to designate May 2025 as “Nurses Month” in Pennsylvania.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this legislation to recognize and honor the vital role that nurses play in protecting the health of our family members, neighbors, and fellow Pennsylvanians.
