Subject: | Prohibition of Lobbyists from Serving on State Appointments |
In the near future, I will reintroduce Senate Bill 725 of last session that would prohibit lobbyists from serving on state agency boards, commissions, committees and councils. This appointment prohibition would extend to state-owned universities as well as state-related universities. The Commonwealth has many boards, commissions, committees, and councils that guide state agencies and universities on decisions that impact various fields and industries. Furthermore, certain appointments come with significant salaries, including the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board, Gaming Control Board, and the Public Utility Commission. No paid lobbyist should be able to also have an inside track in advising state agencies, commissions, and schools on matters that may pose as a conflict of interest. Please join me in cosponsoring this important piece of legislation.
Previous cosponsors include Senators Stefano, Mastriano, Pennycuick, Coleman, Dush, and Cappelletti. |
