Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2025 - 2026 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: December 10, 2024 04:28 PM
From: Senator Jarrett Coleman and Sen. Cris Dush
To: All Senate members
Subject: Ensuring Election Equipment is Adequately Tested

Ensuring that election equipment is adequately tested, recording, and reporting results accurately is a fundamental responsibility of County Boards of Election. In 2023, voters in Northampton County found themselves questioning the accuracy of their votes due to human error. County Executive, Lamont McClure attributed the failure to “laziness”.

This is completely unacceptable. Voters deserve better.

In the near future, we will be reintroducing SB 1293 to strengthen the equipment testing process that is supposed to occur prior to elections. Last session, Senator Judy Ward joined us as a cosponsor.

We hope you will join us in sponsoring this important legislation.
