Senate of Pennsylvania
Session of 2025 - 2026 Regular Session

MEMORANDUM

Posted: January 10, 2025 09:50 AM
From: Senator Wayne Langerholc, Jr. and Sen. Cris Dush, Sen. Scott Martin
To: All Senate members
Subject: “THON Week” in PA (Feb. 21-23, 2025)

Please join us in co-sponsoring a resolution honoring the Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon, or THON.

Held annually each February, this Penn State University-based 46-hour dance-a-thon is the largest student-run philanthropic endeavor in the world, both in revenue and volunteer participation. This year’s theme is “A Home for Hope.”

With the support of students from across the Commonwealth and beyond, this year-long effort benefits the nonprofit Four Diamonds organization at Penn State Children’s Hospital.  Whether to cover cancer treatment costs or to fund research for a cure, THON has raised $236 million to date for the benefit of 4,800 families and those impacted by childhood cancer. In 2023, THON raised $16,955,683.63.

This year, THON intends to hold THON Weekend 2025 at the Bryce Jordan Center, starting on Friday, February 21 and concluding on Sunday, February 23, 2025. With this resolution, we would be recognizing the week of February 21-23, 2025, as “THON Week” in Pennsylvania.

Previous Co-Sponsors include: Pittman, Phillips-Hill, Bartolotta, Robinson, Laughlin, Schwank, Tartaglione, Brooks, Rothman, Boscola, Haywood, Santarsiero, Costa, Farry, Brown, J. Ward, Cappelletti, Stefano, Kane, Comitta, Argall, Vogel, and Miller.

Please join us in honoring the continuing, tremendous effort made by more than 16,500 student volunteers, as well as their families; as they continue to help raise funding, increase awareness and provide emotional support to children and families fighting childhood cancer.
