Subject: | Congressional Redistricting Reform - Limiting Court Actions via Constitutional Amendment |
Now that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court has chosen to gerrymander the state’s congressional districts for the second time in four years, it becomes imperative to limit the drawing of congressional districts to the General Assembly, as the United States Constitution requires (Article I, Section 4, Clause 1). As such, I will soon be introducing a constitutional amendment which will add a new section to Article II. This new section will limit any congressional plan that is devised by a court or by a person under the direction of a court to only be valid in the election cycle in which the court or person directed by the court devised the congressional plan. |
