MEMORANDUM

Posted: October 18, 2023 02:48 PM
From: Representative Donna Scheuren
To: All House members
Subject: Amending the PennWATCH Act to Include Settlement Payments

In the near future and in light of recent allegations throughout Pennsylvania state government, I plan to re-introduce a similar version of HB1803 from the 2019-2020 legislative session. This bill would amend the PennWATCH Act to include information on each settlement paid to an individual, or to an employee of a Commonwealth agency, as a result of an action taken by an employee of a Commonwealth agency.

The PennWATCH website was created for user-friendly monitoring of all state departmental and agency budget expenditures and investments. However, the current website does not include information on settlements paid to an individual, or to an employee of a Commonwealth agency, as a result of an action taken by an employee of a Commonwealth agency.

Including this information will provide the residents of the Commonwealth with an easier way of monitoring how their taxpayer dollars are being spent, as well as providing greater transparency of taxpayer funded expenditures and investments.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.

Introduced as HB1901
