11As used in this paragraph, the term "prior offense" shall
12mean a conviction, adjudication of delinquency, acceptance of
13Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition or other form of
14preliminary disposition, occurring before the sentencing on
15the present violation, for any of the following:

16(i) an offense under this subsection; or

17(ii) an offense substantially similar to an offense
18under this subsection, including an offense under a prior
19law of this Commonwealth or an offense under a law of
20another jurisdiction.
