        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JANUARY 25, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of February 4 through 10, 2001, as
     2     "Students In Free Enterprise Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Students In Free Enterprise (SIFE) is a nonprofit
     4  international organization with chapters on the campuses of more
     5  than 800 colleges and universities; and
     6     WHEREAS, SIFE has continually encouraged the free enterprise
     7  system through educational programs since its inception more
     8  than 25 years ago by legendary entrepreneurs such as Sam Walton,
     9  founder of Wal-Mart; and
    10     WHEREAS, SIFE has worked closely with many national and State
    11  charitable organizations such as the Bucks County Housing Group,
    12  Junior Achievement, the Pennsylvania Free Enterprise Week and


     1  the Civil Air Patrol on various projects; and
     2     WHEREAS, SIFE has instituted programs such as "Responsible
     3  Use of Credit Week," "Make a Difference Day" and "Teach a Child
     4  About Business Week"; and
     5     WHEREAS, SIFE is a valuable asset to the people of this
     6  Commonwealth and should be recognized for its services;
     7  therefore be it
     8     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
     9  week of February 4 through 10, 2001, as "Students In Free
    10  Enterprise Week" in Pennsylvania.
