INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, JANUARY 28, 2009  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing August 16 through 21, 2009, as "Pay It Forward Week"

in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, "Pay It Forward" is a civic initiative to celebrate

and promote acts of kindness, generosity and compassion with the

aim of spreading goodwill throughout communities and this

Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, Inherent in the "Pay It Forward" concept is that,

instead of a person being "paid back" for his kindness, the

recipient of the kindness extends kindness to a third person;

and 

WHEREAS, Although these acts of kindness, generosity and

compassion occur year long, it is fitting to recognize the

efforts of the "Pay It Forward" initiative by setting aside a

week of recognition; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize August

16 through 21, 2009, as "Pay It Forward Week" in Pennsylvania.
