        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           FEBRUARY 11, 2003

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating February 15 through 22, 2003, as "FFA Week" in
     2     Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The Pennsylvania Association of Future Farmers of
     4  America was chartered on September 25, 1929, and has
     5  approximately 8,000 members in 147 chapters; and
     6     WHEREAS, The mission of Future Farmers of America is to make
     7  a positive difference in the lives of students by developing
     8  their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and
     9  career success through agricultural education; and
    10     WHEREAS, The Future Farmers of America motto, "Learning to
    11  do, doing to learn, earning to live, living to serve," gives
    12  direction of purpose to these students who will provide the
    13  leadership for America; and
    14     WHEREAS, This year's theme, "The Cornerstone of Success,"

     1  illustrates how Future Farmers of America's programs are
     2  building tomorrow's leaders today; and
     3     WHEREAS, The Future Farmers of America performs the valuable
     4  service of encouraging cooperation, promoting good citizenship
     5  and inspiring patriotism among its members; and
     6     WHEREAS, Since agriculture maintains the number one ranking
     7  as the Commonwealth's leading industry, it is vital for our
     8  residents to have at the very least a basic agricultural
     9  literacy, which can be acquired through participation in Future
    10  Farmers of America; therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives shall hereby
    12  designate February 15 through 22, 2003, as "FFA Week" in
    13  Pennsylvania.
