A RESOLUTION 1 Congratulating the Pennsylvania Special Olympics upon its 20th 2 anniversary. 3 WHEREAS, From June 7 through 11, 1989, more than 2,000 4 athletes, 500 coaches and 2,000 volunteers are expected to 5 participate in the 1989 Pennsylvania Special Olympics Summer 6 Games at The Pennsylvania State University campus at State 7 College; and 8 WHEREAS, Pennsylvania Special Olympics, with a year-round 9 volunteer force of more than 30,000 people, serves more than 10 20,000 persons with mental retardation, offers year-round 11 training and competition in 17 Olympic-type events, and is now 12 entering its 20th year of service to special people; and 13 WHEREAS, The community and the government recognize and 14 admire the work which is being performed by the Pennsylvania 15 Special Olympics, not only within Pennsylvania but in national 16 and international competition as well; therefore be it
1 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 2 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania congratulate Pennsylvania Special 3 Olympics upon its 20th anniversary; and be it further 4 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives commend the 5 Pennsylvania Special Olympics, its summer games committee, its 6 volunteers and all of its participants upon the outstanding 7 contributions they have given to all of the citizens of 8 Pennsylvania over the past 20 years.
