        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           MAY 4, 1999

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of May 6 through 12, 1999, as "Nurses Week"
     2     in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The American Nurses Association, which includes 53
     4  state and territorial nurses associations, has supported and
     5  promoted the nursing profession for more than 100 years; and
     6     WHEREAS, National Nurses Week, with the theme "Nursing:
     7  Healing From the Heart" begins May 6 and ends May 12, Florence
     8  Nightingale's birthday; therefore be it
     9     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate May 6
    10  through 12, 1999, as "Nurses Week" in Pennsylvania in
    11  appreciation of the specialized skills and hard work of these


     1  valued health care professionals; and be it further
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives join the American
     3  Nurses Association and other nursing organizations, educational
     4  facilities and health care companies and institutions in
     5  recognizing the importance of quality nursing care.
