A RESOLUTION
Designating March 22, 2017, as "Small Business Development
Center Day" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Small business development centers supported small
businesses as their business practices changed dramatically over
the last 37 years; and
WHEREAS, Small business development centers assist aspiring
and emerging small business owners achieve the American dream of
entrepreneurship; and
WHEREAS, With nearly 1,000 locations across the country,
small business development centers provide local businesses and
entrepreneurs with resources needed to succeed; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, America's small business development
centers provided many hours of consulting to approximately
200,000 businesses, resulting in the creation of more than
100,000 jobs; and
WHEREAS, In 2015, sales growth was $6.9 billion, capitol
investments reached $4.6 billion and more than 17,000 businesses
started nationwide; and

WHEREAS, Small business development center clients attain an
average of 15.5% job growth compared to the national job growth
average of only 1.9%; and
WHEREAS, The impact of small business development centers on
the success of small businesses in this Commonwealth's
communities and local economies is remarkable; therefore be it
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate March
22, 2017, as "Small Business Development Center Day" in
Pennsylvania; and be it further
RESOLVED, That the collective impact and success of small
business development centers across the nation and in this
Commonwealth's local communities be celebrated.
