AN ACT 1 Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the 2 Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, further providing for 3 seat of court and for local chamber facilities. 4 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 5 hereby enacts as follows: 6 Section 1. Sections 504, 543, 563(b) and 3703 of Title 42 of 7 the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes are amended to read: 8 § 504. Seat of court. 9 (a) Regular sessions.--The regular sessions of the Supreme 10 Court shall be held in [the facility specified in section 3701 11 (relating to Pennsylvania Judicial Center)] Harrisburg and 12 elsewhere as [prescribed by general rule] provided in subsection 13 (b). 14 (b) Other sessions.--Within the limits of available 15 appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from 16 time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or 17 both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of
1 this Commonwealth if suitable courtroom and related physical 2 facilities are made available without cost to the Commonwealth. 3 § 543. Seat of court. 4 (a) Regular sessions.--The regular sessions of the Superior 5 Court shall be held at the [cities] city of Harrisburg[, 6 Philadelphia and Pittsburgh] and elsewhere as [prescribed by 7 general rule or rule of court] provided in subsection (b). 8 (b) Other sessions.--Within the limits of available 9 appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from 10 time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or 11 both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of 12 this Commonwealth if suitable courtroom and related physical 13 facilities are made available without cost to the Commonwealth. 14 § 563. Seat of court. 15 * * * 16 (b) Other sessions.--Within the limits of available 17 appropriations, special sessions of the court may be held from 18 time to time for the convenience of parties or witnesses, or 19 both, in the interest of justice, in such judicial districts of 20 this Commonwealth as make available without cost to the 21 Commonwealth suitable courtroom and related physical facilities. 22 [The court shall also sit in the cities of Philadelphia and 23 Pittsburgh.] 24 § 3703. Local chamber facilities. 25 The Administrative Office of Pennsylvania Courts shall 26 furnish for each judge of the appellate courts of this 27 Commonwealth chamber facilities in the county in which such 28 judge resides in conformity with general rules for such judge 29 and [the] one personal [staff] secretary of such judge from 30 funds annually appropriated by the General Assembly. 19970H0180B0203 - 2 -
