                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
     2     Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, providing for self-
     3     representation and examination of victims.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 9303.  Self-representation and examination of victims.
     9     (a)  General rule.--A criminal defendant who waives the right
    10  to counsel may not examine a witness who is the victim of the
    11  crime. The court shall appoint counsel to conduct such
    12  examination on the defendant's behalf.
    13     (b)  Applicability.--This section shall only apply in cases
    14  where the crime is enumerated under 18 Pa.C.S. Pt. II Art. B
    15  (relating to offenses involving danger to the person).
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
