                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for joint costs of certain traffic-
     3     control devices; and providing for powers and duties of the
     4     Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 6122 of Title 75 of the Pennsylvania
     8  Consolidated Statutes is amended by adding subsections to read:
     9  § 6122.  Authority to erect traffic-control devices.
    10     * * *
    11     (e)  Costs.--
    12         (1)  The cost of traffic-control signals located on
    13     Pennsylvania intersections shall be borne jointly by the
    14     municipality and the Commonwealth.
    15         (2)  As used in this subsection, the term "cost of
    16     traffic-control signal" means the purchase price of a
    17     traffic-control signal, the cost of erecting the traffic-
    18     control signal and the cost of maintaining the traffic-


     1     control signal.
     2     (f)  Powers and duties of Pennsylvania Public Utility
     3  Commission.--Nothing contained in this section shall impair,
     4  suspend, contract, enlarge, extend or affect in any manner the
     5  powers and duties of the Pennsylvania Public Utility Commission
     6  as contained in 66 Pa.C.S. §§ 2702 (relating to construction,
     7  relocation, suspension and abolition of crossings), 2703
     8  (relating to ejectment in crossing cases) and 2704 (relating to
     9  compensation for damages occasioned by construction, relocation
    10  or abolition of crossings).
    11     Section 2.  This act shall apply to the maintenance costs of
    12  traffic-control devices which are in existence on the effective
    13  date of this act.
    14     Section 3.  This act shall take effect immediately.
