1Designating the weeks of August 25, 2013, through August 30,
22013, and September 2, 2013, through September 6, 2013, as
3"Back to School Weeks" in Pennsylvania. 

4WHEREAS, The Constitution of Pennsylvania declares that the
5General Assembly shall provide for the maintenance and support
6of a thorough and efficient system of public education to serve
7the needs of the students and families of this Commonwealth; and

8WHEREAS, Education is a primary concern of the Commonwealth
9and the members of the House of Representatives, who are
10instrumental in assuring the quality of Pennsylvania schools;
11and

12WHEREAS, The House of Representatives supports education
13initiatives that foster healthy intellectual and educational
14development among students, and

15WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is comprised of more than 500 school
16districts, with more than 5,500 schools educating students from
17kindergarten through 12th grade; and

1WHEREAS, Back to school week marks the official end of summer
2and the start of a new and challenging school year for students,
3parents, teachers and school administrations; and

4WHEREAS, The House of Representatives encourages and supports
5students across this Commonwealth to embrace learning and to
6enjoy the school year ahead; therefore be it

7RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize the
8weeks of August 25, 2013, through August 30, 2013, and September
92, 2013, through September 6, 2013, as "Back to School Weeks" in
10Pennsylvania.
