A RESOLUTION

Designating the week of November 13, 2011, as "American

2

Education Week" in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, National attention must be focused on the integral

4

role that education plays in preparing citizens of the United

5

States for the future in an increasingly competitive and

6

interdependent world; and

7

WHEREAS, A well-educated work force is vital to the economic

8

well-being of the United States and of this Commonwealth; and

9

WHEREAS, A good education leads to more skilled and higher

10

paying jobs; and

11

WHEREAS, This Commonwealth has a strong and historic

12

tradition of commitment to public education and has been blessed

with the leadership of brilliant and innovative educators;

2

therefore be it

3

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the

4

week of November 13, 2011, as "American Education Week" in

5

Pennsylvania; and be it further

6

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge educators,

7

parents and students throughout this Commonwealth to observe

8

"American Education Week" in Pennsylvania and to use it to

9

nurture the educational opportunities in this Commonwealth; and

10

be it further

11

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge businesses

12

in this Commonwealth to encourage employees who are parents to

13

visit their children's schools and get more involved in efforts

14

to promote and enhance learning.
