INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, APRIL 29, 2002
A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the 50th anniversary of the New Bolton Center of the 2 University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in 3 Chester County, Pennsylvania. 4 WHEREAS, The New Bolton Center of the University of 5 Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine is celebrating the 6 momentous occasion of its 50th anniversary; and 7 WHEREAS, The New Bolton Center, established in 1952, is the 8 location of the George D. Widener Hospital for Large Animals, 9 where more than 6,000 animals visit annually for treatment; and 10 WHEREAS, In addition to 24-hour emergency service, the 11 hospital offers an operating suite for orthopedic surgeries and
1 a recovery pool where animals can safely emerge from anesthesia; 2 and 3 WHEREAS, The sophisticated state-of-the-art equipment and the 4 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) are designed especially for the care 5 of large animals; and 6 WHEREAS, The ICU has one wing which converts to a neonatal 7 unit during foaling season; and 8 WHEREAS, The hospital is staffed by 25 clinicians, 20 interns 9 and residents and 54 veterinary technicians and nurses; and 10 WHEREAS, The House of Representatives is always pleased to 11 acknowledge those entities which contribute to the well-being of 12 their communities and ultimately to all the people of this great 13 Commonwealth; therefore be it 14 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize and 15 commend the New Bolton Center of the University of Pennsylvania 16 School of Veterinary Medicine as it recommits itself to the 17 ideals and standards which have sustained it for 50 years.
