        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           JUNE 4, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the Berks County Agricultural Land Preservation Board
     2     on its attainment of 25,000 acres of preserved farmland.

     3     WHEREAS, The Berks County Agricultural Land Preservation
     4  Board is being honored for reaching the milestone of 25,000
     5  acres of preserved farmland; and
     6     WHEREAS, Created in 1989, the land preservation board is
     7  responsible for oversight of the State Farmland Preservation
     8  Program, which allows the Commonwealth and its counties to
     9  purchase land development rights in an effort to guarantee that
    10  farms remain as agricultural land; and
    11     WHEREAS, Since 1998, when the board celebrated its 10,000th
    12  acre of preserved farmland, it has added another 15,000 acres to
    13  reach a total of 25,000 acres and is continuing its work as one
    14  of the most active boards in this Commonwealth; and
    15     WHEREAS, The Berks County Commissioners and the Berks County
    16  Agricultural Land Preservation Board are celebrating the
    17  attainment of 25,000 acres of preserved farmland at a ceremony


     1  on Friday, June 7, 2002; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the Berks
     3  County Agricultural Land Preservation Board for its attainment
     4  of 25,000 acres of preserved farmland.
