INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35, OCTOBER 11, 2000
A RESOLUTION 1 Extending deep sympathies to the congregation of Temple Ohev 2 Sholom for the fire damages inflicted on their synagogue on 3 Yom Kippur. 4 WHEREAS, Temple Ohev Sholom of Harrisburg suffered 5 substantial damages from a devastating fire on Yom Kippur, 6 Judaism's holiest day; and 7 WHEREAS, This was a devastating fire which impacted not only 8 the congregation but Jewish citizens and all residents 9 throughout this Commonwealth; and 10 WHEREAS, Authorities are currently investigating the fire as 11 an act of arson; and 12 WHEREAS, Our Commonwealth and nation were founded on the 13 principle that people of all religions should be able to 14 practice their faith free from fear and danger; and
1 WHEREAS, We are saddened by the tragic damage inflicted on 2 this congregation's place of worship; therefore be it 3 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives extend its 4 deepest sympathy to the congregation of Temple Ohev Sholom on 5 the tragic fire which damaged their synagogue.
