A RESOLUTION
1 Urging the VH1 Network to donate profits from a broadcast of
2 music by prisoners to the Office of Victim Advocate.
3 WHEREAS, On October 18, 2002, the VH1 Network is broadcasting
4 a program entitled "Music Behind Bars Graterford"; and
5 WHEREAS, This program features a performance by a group
6 called "Dark Mischief," composed of individuals who are
7 incarcerated at Graterford; and
8 WHEREAS, The program would be offensive and hurtful to the
9 victims of crimes by members of the group and families of those
10 victims; and
11 WHEREAS, The Network has the First Amendment right to
12 broadcast such a program; therefore be it
13 RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives urge the VH1
14 Network to donate all profits from the program entitled "Music
15 Behind Bars Graterford" to the Office of Victim Advocate in the
16 Pennsylvania Board of Probation and Parole; and be it further
17 RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
1 the VH1 Network.
