        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           NOVEMBER 19, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating December 2002 as "Home 4 the Holidays" month in
     2     Pennsylvania in order to promote the adoption of homeless
     3     pets.

     4     WHEREAS, Preservation of Animal Welfare and Safety (PAWS), an
     5  all-volunteer organization, is participating in the
     6  international "Home 4 the Holidays" pet adoption campaign; and
     7     WHEREAS, PAWS volunteers have agreed to devote their time,
     8  resources and energy to this united effort to bring attention to
     9  homeless pets; and
    10     WHEREAS, PAWS volunteers will work throughout the holiday
    11  season with a goal of finding loving, lifelong homes for
    12  homeless dogs and cats; and
    13     WHEREAS, PAWS is working in cooperation with animal shelters
    14  and rescue groups around the world in partnership with the Iams


     1  Company, PETCO, the PETCO Foundation, Petfinder.com, and "Home 4
     2  the Holidays" founder Helen Woodward Animal Center, with a goal
     3  of producing 250,000 pet adoptions during the holiday season;
     4  and
     5     WHEREAS, The "Home 4 the Holidays" pet adoption campaign has
     6  not only saved the lives of homeless dogs and cats around the
     7  world, but it has also resulted in the adoption of more pets
     8  than any other single pet adoption event in history; therefore
     9  be it
    10     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate
    11  December 2002 as "Home 4 the Holidays" month in Pennsylvania in
    12  order to promote the adoption of homeless pets.
