        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           NOVEMBER 19, 2002

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the Pennsylvania State Education Association on its
     2     150th anniversary on December 28, 2002.

     3     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's public schools are a backbone of our
     4  democracy, providing young people with the tools they need to
     5  maintain our State's precious values of freedom, civility and
     6  equality; and
     7     WHEREAS, By equipping young Pennsylvanians with practical
     8  skills and broader intellectual abilities, public schools give
     9  them hope for and access to a productive future; and
    10     WHEREAS, Public education employees, whether they are
    11  teachers or custodians, bus drivers or counselors, work

     1  tirelessly to serve our children and communities with care and
     2  professionalism; and
     3     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania's public schools are linchpins of our
     4  communities, bringing together adults and children, educators
     5  and volunteers and business leaders and elected officials in a
     6  common enterprise; and
     7     WHEREAS, On December 28, 1852, the Pennsylvania State
     8  Education Association was founded; and
     9     WHEREAS, For 150 years the members of the Pennsylvania State
    10  Education Association have exemplified care, professionalism and
    11  community outreach by dedicating themselves to educating
    12  Pennsylvania's children; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the
    14  Pennsylvania State Education Association on its 150th
    15  anniversary on December 28, 2002; and be it further
    16     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    17  the Pennsylvania State Education Association.
