AN ACT 1 Naming a bridge in Harborcreek Township, Erie County, the Peter 2 DiNicola Bridge. 3 The General Assembly hereby finds and declares as follows: 4 (1) Peter DiNicola, born in 1897, was an Italian 5 immigrant who settled in the Harborcreek Station Road area 6 south of Interstate 90, near Erie, Erie County in 1913. 7 (2) Peter DiNicola served with the 12th Pennsylvania 8 State Militia and was activated during the Pancho Villa 9 uprising in Mexico. 10 (3) Prior to his death in 1957, Peter DiNicola developed 11 a reputation as a skilled bricklayer and builder and between 12 1930 and the mid-1950's became known as one of the leading 13 contractors in the Erie area, particularly in the communities 14 of Harborcreek and Wesleyville. 15 (4) Like thousands of other immigrants of his time, 16 Peter DiNicola made a lasting contribution to the quality and
1 character of his community. 2 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 3 hereby enacts as follows: 4 Section 1. Peter DiNicola Bridge. 5 (a) Designation authorized.--The bridge carrying 6 Pennsylvania Route 430 in Harborcreek Township in Erie County 7 over Interstate 90 is hereby designated and shall hereafter be 8 known as the Peter DiNicola Bridge in honor of immigrant builder 9 and contractor Peter DiNicola's many contributions to his 10 community, to his county and to the Commonwealth. 11 (b) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect 12 appropriate signs at each end of the bridge displaying the 13 designation made by this act. 14 Section 2.
