                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending the act of July 9, 1987 (P.L.220, No.39), entitled "An
     2     act licensing and regulating the practice of social work;
     3     providing penalties; and making an appropriation," adding
     4     additional powers of sanction to the board.

     5     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     6  hereby enacts as follows:
     7     Section 1.  Section 11(b) of the act of July 9, 1987
     8  (P.L.220, No.39), known as the Social Workers' Practice Act,
     9  amended December 21, 1998 (P.L.1017, No.136), is amended to
    10  read:
    11  Section 11.  Refusal, suspension and revocation of licenses.

    13     (b)  Board action.--When the board finds that the license or
    14  application for license of any person may be refused, revoked,
    15  restricted or suspended under the terms of subsection (a), the
    16  board may:
    17         (1)  Deny the application for a license.

     1         (2)  Administer a public reprimand.
     2         (3)  Revoke, suspend, limit or otherwise restrict a
     3     license as determined by the board.
     4         (4)  Require a licensee to submit to the care, counseling
     5     or treatment of a physician designated by the board.
     6         (5)  Suspend enforcement of its findings thereof and
     7     place a licensee on probation with the right to vacate the
     8     probationary order for noncompliance.
     9         (6)  Restore a suspended license and impose any
    10     disciplinary or corrective measure which it might originally
    11     have imposed.
    12         (7)  Take other action as the board in its discretion
    13     considers proper, including precluding a suspended licensee
    14     from engaging in counseling or any other form of mental
    15     health practice.

    17     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
