A RESOLUTION
1Designating the month of June 2014 as "Corrections Officers and
2Employees Month" in Pennsylvania.
3WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees form the backbone
4of the correctional system of this Commonwealth; and
5WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees face the
6possibility of harm every day they report for work; and
7WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees are charged with
8the care, custody and control of our prison population and, as
9such, are the first element in the rehabilitation of
10incarcerated persons; and
11WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees are actively
12involved in their communities through volunteer service and
13civic participation; and
14WHEREAS, Corrections officers and employees continue to work
1effectively with prison officials to create well-run
2correctional facilities, foster teamwork and support an
3effective detention system; therefore be it
4RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives designate the
5month of June 2014 as "Corrections Officers and Employees Month"
6in Pennsylvania in recognition of the valuable contributions of
7these fine professionals.
