        INTRODUCED AS NONCONTROVERSIAL RESOLUTION UNDER RULE 35,
           SEPTEMBER 23, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Honoring the life and extending condolences for the supreme
     2     sacrifice of Private First Class Joshua Waltenbaugh of the
     3     United States Army who valiantly lost his life on June 3,
     4     2008, while in brave service to our country.

     5     WHEREAS, Private First Class Joshua Waltenbaugh was serving
     6  his country on June 3, 2008, near Taji, a town ten miles north
     7  of Baghdad, when he was killed by small arms fire; and
     8     WHEREAS, PFC Waltenbaugh selflessly volunteered for the
     9  United States Army as a high school junior and completed basic
    10  training at Fort Leonard Wood between his junior and senior
    11  years of high school; and

     1     WHEREAS, After graduating from Lenape Technical School in
     2  2007, PFC. Waltenbaugh commenced active duty and was stationed
     3  at Fort Hood, Texas, before being deployed to Iraq; and
     4     WHEREAS, PFC Waltenbaugh was a specialist in helicopter
     5  engine repair and a member of the army's downed aircraft
     6  recovery team with the 4th Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry
     7  Regiment; and
     8     WHEREAS, In his hometown of Shay, Kittanning Township, PFC
     9  Waltenbaugh was active in community service, participating in
    10  the Boy Scounts and Habitat for Humanity; and
    11     WHEREAS, PFC Waltenbaugh is survived by his wife, Misti Walls
    12  Waltenbaugh, his parents, Bill and Bonnie Waltenbaugh, brothers,
    13  Bill Crawford and James Darney, who is a sergeant in the United
    14  States Army Reserve, and sisters, Erin Darney and Jill
    15  Waltenbaugh; therefore be it
    16     RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives honor the life
    17  and extend condolences for the supreme sacrifice of Private
    18  First Class Joshua Waltenbaugh who died on June 3, 2008, in Iraq
    19  while in the brave service of our country; and be it further
    20     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
    21  Private First Class Joshua Waltenbaugh's wife, Misti Walls
    22  Waltenbaugh and his parents, Bill and Bonnie Waltenbaugh.
