A RESOLUTION

Recognizing September 20, 2010, as "Eastern University's Campus

2

Chapter of Habitat for Humanity Day" in Pennsylvania.

3

WHEREAS, Eastern University is a private college located near

4

Philadelphia; and

5

WHEREAS, Eastern University hosted Act! Speak! Build! Week, a

6

student-initiated week of advocacy on behalf of Habitat for

7

Humanity and housing issues the week of April 11 through 17,

8

2010; and

9

WHEREAS, Eastern University had members of its board raise

10

awareness about the issue of poverty housing among students

11

attending Eastern University; and

12

WHEREAS, Forty-three students became Habitat for Humanity

13

advocates; and

14

WHEREAS, Fifty-two students chose to sign letters to elected

15

officials asking them to support efforts for affordable, secure

housing for vulnerable American families; and

2

WHEREAS, The board raised funds that were donated to Habitat

3

International; and

4

WHEREAS, A dozen students signed up to go on a workday in

5

Philadelphia on April 17, 2010, to help build homes for those in

6

need of affordable housing options; therefore be it

7

RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives recognize

8

September 20, 2010, as "Eastern University's Campus Charter of

9

Habitat for Humanity Day" in Pennsylvania.
