AN ACT 1 Amending the act of October 30, 1987 (P.L.375, No.75), entitled 2 "An act providing for the designation of certain trees and 3 land on the grounds of the State Capitol in Harrisburg as 4 'Soldiers' Grove' in honor of war veterans; imposing duties 5 upon the Department of General Services; and making an 6 appropriation," further providing for the marking of trees. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Section 2 of the act of October 30, 1987 10 (P.L.375, No.75) entitled "An act providing for the designation 11 of certain trees and land on the grounds of the State Capitol in 12 Harrisburg as 'Soldiers' Grove' in honor of war veterans; 13 imposing duties upon the Department of General Services; and
1 making an appropriation," is amended to read:
2 Section 2. Duties of Department of General Services.
3 (a) Marking of trees.--The Department of General Services
4 shall mark the [ten] largest trees growing in the area that is
5 to be designated "Soldiers' Grove."
6 (b) Plaques.--
7 (1) The department shall arrange for the fabrication of
8 [nine] appropriate bronze plaques in honor of veterans of the
9 following:
10 (i) The American Revolutionary War.
11 (ii) The War of 1812.
12 (iii) The Mexican-American War.
13 (iv) The American Civil War.
14 (v) The Spanish-American War.
15 (vi) World War I.
16 (vii) World War II.
17 (viii) The Korean War.
18 (ix) The Vietnam Conflict.
19 (x) The Persian Gulf War.
20 (2) The department shall also arrange for the
21 fabrication of an appropriate bronze plaque to honor the
22 unknown veterans of the wars and conflicts enumerated in
23 paragraph (1).
24 (c) Placement of plaques.--The department shall affix the
25 plaques provided for in subsection (b) to granite plinths. A
26 plaque shall be placed in close proximity to each of the trees
27 marked under subsection (a), and an appropriate inscription
28 shall be mounted on each tree declaring that the tree is
29 dedicated to veterans of a war or conflict.
30 Section 2. This act shall take effect in 60 days.
