AN ACT 1 Amending the act of June 21, 1957 (P.L.390, No.212), entitled 2 "An act requiring certain records of the Commonwealth and its 3 political subdivisions and of certain authorities and other 4 agencies performing essential governmental functions, to be 5 open for examination and inspection by citizens of the 6 Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; authorizing such citizens under 7 certain conditions to make extracts, copies, photographs or 8 photostats of such records; and providing for appeals to the 9 courts of common pleas," adding certain educational 10 institutions to the definition of "agency." 11 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 12 hereby enacts as follows: 13 Section 1. Section 1(1) of the act of June 21, 1957 14 (P.L.390, No.212), referred to as the Right-to-Know Law, is 15 amended to read: 16 Section 1. In this act the following terms shall have the 17 following meanings: 18 (1) "Agency." Any department, board or commission of the 19 executive branch of the Commonwealth, any political subdivision 20 of the Commonwealth, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, or 21 any State or municipal authority or similar organization created
1 by or pursuant to a statute which declares in substance that 2 such organization performs or has for its purpose the 3 performance of an essential governmental function. The term 4 shall include: Lincoln University; The Pennsylvania State 5 University; the University of Pittsburgh; Temple University; the 6 State System of Higher Education and all of its member 7 institutions; all community colleges; and all technical 8 institutes established under Article XIX-A of the act of March 9 10, 1949 (P.L.30, No.14), known as the "Public School Code of 10 1949." 11 * * * 12 Section 2.
