AN ACT 1 Designating the bridge carrying State Route 2073 over Plum Creek 2 between the boroughs of Oakmont and Verona in Allegheny 3 County as the Roger F. Duffy Viaduct. <-- 4 The General Assembly finds and declares as follows: 5 (1) Roger F. Duffy was born in Pittsburgh, Allegheny 6 County, on November 19, 1925. 7 (2) He graduated from Taylor Allderdice High School in 8 1945 and Duquesne University in 1951, majoring in business 9 administration. 10 (3) He served with the United States Army during World 11 War II at the Battle of the Bulge and was honorably 12 discharged. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his bravery. 13 (4) He served as mayor of the Borough of Oakmont from 14 1970 to 1974 and as a councilman from 1974 to 1978. 15 (5) He was elected as a member of the Pennsylvania 16 General Assembly in 1976 and served honorably from 1977 until 17 1988, representing the 33rd Legislative District of the
1 Commonwealth. During his tenure he served on the Local 2 Government Committee as chairman of the Subcommittee on 3 Boroughs, as well as the Appropriations Committee, the 4 Business and Commerce Committee and the Liquor Control 5 Committee. 6 (6) He died on March 31, 2007. 7 The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania 8 hereby enacts as follows: 9 Section 1. Bridge between Oakmont and Verona, Allegheny County. 10 (a) Designation.--The bridge carrying State Route 2073 over 11 Plum Creek between the boroughs of Oakmont and Verona in 12 Allegheny County is hereby designated as the Roger F. Duffy <-- 13 Viaduct. 14 (b) Signs.--The Department of Transportation shall erect and 15 maintain appropriate signs on the bridge displaying the 16 designated name of the bridge to traffic in both directions. 17 Section 2.
