AN ACT
Amending Title 42 (Judiciary and Judicial Procedure) of the
Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, in sentencing, providing
for restitution for tampering with evidence or public records
or information.
The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
hereby enacts as follows:
Section 1. Title 42 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
§ 9720.7. Restitution for tampering with evidence or public
records or information.
(a) General rule.--The court may, in addition to any other
restitution sentence or order authorized by law, sentence a
person convicted of a violation of 18 Pa.C.S. § 4910 (relating
to tampering with or fabricating physical evidence) or 4911
(relating to tampering with public records or information) to
make restitution for all reasonable expenses incurred by the
victim or on the victim's behalf:
(1) to investigate the circumstances surrounding the
defendant's violation of 18 Pa.C.S. § 4910 or 4911;
