                                     AN ACT

     1  Providing additional Commonwealth support for tourist promotion
     2     agencies.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5  Section 1.  Authorization of additional support.
     6     Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, 5% of General
     7  Fund revenues appropriated for the purpose of marketing to
     8  attract tourists to this Commonwealth shall be set aside to make
     9  annual payments to tourist promotion agencies to cover salaries,
    10  wages, operational expenses and any other costs not covered by
    11  grants or reimbursements under the act of April 28, 1961
    12  (P.L.111, No.50), known as the Tourist Promotion Law.
    13  Section 2.  Payments.


     1     From the moneys set aside under section 1, the Department of
     2  Community and Economic Development shall make annual payments to
     3  tourist promotion agencies no later than November 1 of each
     4  Commonwealth fiscal year. The amount of each payment shall be
     5  determined by taking the total amount of the moneys set aside
     6  under section 1 divided by the total number of counties within
     7  the Commonwealth. The result shall be the amount of money
     8  payable to the tourist promotion agency that represents that
     9  county as designated under the Tourist Promotion Law.
    10  Section 3.  Applicability.
    11     This act shall apply to the fiscal year July 1, 1998, to June
    12  30, 1999, and each fiscal year thereafter.
    13  Section 4.  Effective date.
    14     This act shall take effect immediately.
