        INTRODUCED BY MOWERY, ARMSTRONG, HUGHES, MADIGAN, KITCHEN,
           TOMLINSON, HELFRICK, SCHWARTZ, WENGER, THOMPSON, LAVALLE,
           DENT, COSTA, WAGNER, TILGHMAN, GREENLEAF, PUNT, EARLL,
           MURPHY, O'PAKE, BELAN, WHITE, ROBBINS, RHOADES, HOLL, SLOCUM,
           MUSTO, GERLACH, LEMMOND AND BODACK, MAY 4, 1999

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, MAY 4, 1999

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating the week of May 9 through 15, 1999, as "Pennsylvania
     2     MADD Drunk Driving Awareness Week."

     3     WHEREAS, In 1997 more than 16,000 people lost their lives in
     4  alcohol-related traffic accidents; and
     5     WHEREAS, The economic costs relating to alcohol-related
     6  accidents are estimated to be in excess of $45 billion annually;
     7  and
     8     WHEREAS, All residents of this Commonwealth should be more
     9  aware of the serious peril resulting from drunk driving;
    10  therefore be it
    11     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of May 9 through
    12  15, 1999, as "Pennsylvania MADD Drunk Driving Awareness Week."
