                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Memorializing the President and United States Congress to
     2     request the Canadian Government to reopen the investigation
     3     of the December 12, 1985, airplane crash in Gander,
     4     Newfoundland.

     5     WHEREAS, On December 12, 1985, an airplane crashed in Gander,
     6  Newfoundland, Canada, killing 256 people, including 248 members
     7  of the 101st Airborne Division of the United States Army; and
     8     WHEREAS, An investigation took place in which the majority
     9  believed that ice on the wings caused the crash, while a
    10  minority believed that a bomb was the cause of the crash; and
    11     WHEREAS, The investigatory board refuses to review any new
    12  evidence; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania memorialize the
    14  President and United States Congress to request the Canadian
    15  Government to reopen the investigation to include new evidence
    16  relating to the December 12, 1985, airplane crash at Gander,
    17  Newfoundland, Canada; and be it further
    18     RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be transmitted to


     1  the presiding officers of each house of Congress and to each
     2  member of Congress from Pennsylvania.
