A RESOLUTION
1 Honoring the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency on
2 the occasion of its 25th Anniversary; and designating the
3 week of November 12 through 18, 1989, as Pennsylvania Higher
4 Education Assistance Agency Week.
5 WHEREAS, The year 1989 marks the 25th Anniversary of the
6 creation of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency;
7 and
8 WHEREAS, From a very meager beginning, the agency has,
9 through dedicated service, imagination, innovation and superbly
10 qualified personnel and direction, grown from a small
11 Pennsylvania student aid agency to an entity which now not only
12 administers millions of dollars in grants and loan guarantees in
13 Pennsylvania, but also provides student loan aid support in a
14 number of other states on a profitmaking basis; and
15 WHEREAS, Over two million Pennsylvania students have obtained
16 their education through grants and loans provided by the
17 Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency; and
18 WHEREAS, The value of the education so provided is of
1 immeasurable value, not only to the individuals who received it,
2 but also to the economy and well-being of our Commonwealth and
3 our Nation; therefore be it
4 RESOLVED, That the Senate of Pennsylvania, on the occasion of
5 the 25th Anniversary of the Pennsylvania Higher Education
6 Assistance Agency, express its admiration for the outstanding
7 contributions the agency has made in the field of higher
8 education and express its gratitude to all of those who have
9 contributed to the phenomenal success of the agency; and be it
10 further
11 RESOLVED, That the week of November 12 through 18, 1989, be
12 designated Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency Week.
