SENATE RESOLUTION

No. 126 Session of 2001


        INTRODUCED BY O'PAKE, BRIGHTBILL, WAGNER, MELLOW, TOMLINSON,
           KUKOVICH, BOSCOLA, MOWERY, EARLL, M. WHITE, PUNT, LEMMOND,
           STOUT, BODACK, TARTAGLIONE, LOGAN, COSTA, SCHWARTZ, THOMPSON
           AND GERLACH, OCTOBER 9, 2001

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, OCTOBER 9, 2001

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Recognizing the week of October 14 through 20, 2001, as "Credit
     2     Union Week" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, Credit unions employ 7,606 people throughout this
     4  Commonwealth; and
     5     WHEREAS, Pennsylvania has 777 credit unions, with 3.3 million
     6  members and approximately $15 billion in assets and with 70% of
     7  Pennsylvania credit unions having assets totaling under $10
     8  million; and
     9     WHEREAS, The week of October 14 through 20, 2001, is
    10  "International Credit Union Week"; and
    11     WHEREAS, Credit unions serve an important role in our
    12  Commonwealth by providing low-cost financial services to their
    13  members; and
    14     WHEREAS, Credit unions encourage and sponsor activities to
    15  promote the charitable acts of their members; and
    16     WHEREAS, The unselfish efforts of volunteers organized
    17  through credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes

     1  throughout this Commonwealth and beyond; therefore be it
     2     RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of October 14
     3  through 20, 2001, as "Credit Union Week" in Pennsylvania; and be
     4  it further
     5     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to
     6  the Pennsylvania Credit Union League.
