A RESOLUTION 1 Recognizing the week of October 21 through 27, 2007, as 2 "National Massage Therapy Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania. 3 WHEREAS, Consumers spend in excess of $2 billion to $4 4 billion annually on massage therapy; and 5 WHEREAS, Therapeutic massage can benefit people of all ages; 6 and 7 WHEREAS, According to a recent survey, 22% of consumers 8 reported having a massage from a massage therapist in the past 9 12 months; and 10 WHEREAS, An estimated 46.9 million American adults had a 11 massage in the past 12 months, which was 2.2 million more than 12 the previous year; and 13 WHEREAS, The American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), a 14 52,000-member professional association for massage therapists, 15 provides consumer and professional education on massage and 16 helps consumers and health professionals locate qualified 17 massage therapists in their area; therefore be it
