A RESOLUTION
Designating the week of August 10 through 17, 2019, as "Local
Water Week" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Pennsylvania is a water-rich State with
approximately 85,000 miles of streams and rivers connecting more
than 700,000 acres of lakes, bays and wetlands; and
WHEREAS, Our local waterways provide an important source of
drinking water and recreational fishing and boating for
Pennsylvanians; and
WHEREAS, Good water quality contributes positively to
Pennsylvania's economy and quality of life for Pennsylvania
residents and tourists; and
WHEREAS, By raising awareness and providing education
Pennsylvania residents can learn common sense actions that they
can take to protect and improve local water quality; therefore
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate designate the week of August 10
through 17, 2019, as "Local Water Week" in Pennsylvania; and be

RESOLVED, That the Senate encourage all residents of this
Commonwealth to commemorate "Local Water Week" with events and
educational programs designed to increase awareness of the
importance of healthy streams, rivers and lakes to this
Commonwealth, the region and the United States.
