SENATE RESOLUTION

INTRODUCED BY PIPPY, FONTANA, COSTA, DINNIMAN, KASUNIC, SOLOBAY, ORIE, KITCHEN, RAFFERTY, BROWNE, PILEGGI AND BREWSTER, NOVEMBER 1, 2011

INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, NOVEMBER 1, 2011  

A RESOLUTION

Recognizing the week of November 13 through 19, 2011, as "Hunger

and Homelessness Awareness Week" in Pennsylvania.

WHEREAS, The National Coalition for the Homeless and the

National Student Campaign Against Hunger and Homelessness

cosponsor "National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week" each

year during the week prior to Thanksgiving; and

WHEREAS, Coordinated activities take place during this week

to promote education, service and action domestically and

internationally with the aim of ending hunger and homelessness

and strengthening individuals and communities; and

WHEREAS, Recognizing that homelessness and hunger are

everyone's problem; and

WHEREAS, The struggles faced by those that lack a home are

often lonely and certainly difficult; and

WHEREAS, Bringing attention to the plight of the homeless by

participating in this week of awareness may foster greater

understanding; therefore be it

RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of November 13

through 19, 2011, as "Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week" in

Pennsylvania and urge Pennsylvanians to gain a greater awareness

of the problems of hunger and homelessness in their communities

and this Commonwealth.
