A RESOLUTION
1 Designating March 13, 2008, as "Good Works Day" in Pennsylvania.
2 WHEREAS, Good Works, Inc., is a faith-based nonprofit
3 organization dedicated to making the United States a better
4 place to live by transforming homes into warmer, safer and drier
5 places to live; and
6 WHEREAS, Good Works, Inc., rehabilitates homes in need of
7 repair which are owned by impoverished persons in the
8 Coatesville, West Chester and Phoenixville areas at no cost to
9 low-income homeowners; and
10 WHEREAS, Good Works, Inc., attracts more than 1,700
11 volunteers to accomplish its renovation work in Chester County;
12 and
13 WHEREAS, More than 400 families have been assisted by the
14 efforts of Good Works, Inc., since its inception on March 13,
15 1988; and
16 WHEREAS, Good Works, Inc., helps homeowners who are elderly,
17 single parents and individuals with physical disabilities; and
1 WHEREAS, In providing this crucial aid, Good Works, Inc.,
2 benefits impoverished homeowners by replacing despair with a
3 renewed vigor for life; therefore be it
4 RESOLVED, That the Senate designate March 13, 2008, as "Good
5 Works Day" in Pennsylvania.
