           STACK, STOUT, BAKER, TARTAGLIONE, FONTANA, KASUNIC, DINNIMAN,
           HUGHES, EARLL, RAFFERTY, LOGAN, GREENLEAF, ERICKSON,
           A. WILLIAMS, M. WHITE, WONDERLING, TOMLINSON, BOSCOLA,

        INTRODUCED AND ADOPTED, APRIL 8, 2008

                                  A RESOLUTION

     1  Designating April 24, 2008, as "Take Our Daughters and Sons to
     2     Work Day" in Pennsylvania.

     3     WHEREAS, The 2008 theme for "Take Our Daughters and Sons to
     4  Work Day," Making Choices for a Better World, helps girls and
     5  boys across the nation discover the power and possibilities
     6  associated with a balanced work and family life; and
     7     WHEREAS, The Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Foundation
     8  is dedicated to empowering girls and boys to live fulfilling
     9  lives and advocates for changes in social policy and public
    10  awareness on behalf of youth; and
    11     WHEREAS, "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" inspires
    12  all children, regardless of economic, social and physical
    13  challenges, to succeed in all future aspects of their adult
    14  life; and
    15     WHEREAS, "Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day"
    16  meaningfully addresses the roles of men and women as part of the

     1  work force and as part of a family; and
     2     WHEREAS, Students participating in "Take Our Daughters and
     3  Sons to Work Day" experience first-hand, with the guidance of a
     4  caring adult mentor, the countless options available for their
     5  future work and family lives; and
     6     WHEREAS, Employers participating in "Take Our Daughters and
     7  Sons to Work Day" gain better understanding of the challenges,
     8  ideas and work-life issues of a future generation; and
     9     WHEREAS, Millions of employers, ranging from Fortune 500
    10  companies to small employers and government agencies in every
    11  state across the country, have participated in the program for
    12  over 15 years; therefore be it
    13     RESOLVED, That the Senate designate April 24, 2008, as "Take
    14  Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" in Pennsylvania.
