A RESOLUTION
Recognizing the month of September 2016 as "Thyroid Cancer
Awareness Month" in Pennsylvania.
WHEREAS, Thyroid cancer is the most common endocrine cancer;
and
WHEREAS, Thyroid cancer has had the fastest increase in
incidence of any cancer in recent years; and
WHEREAS, It is now the seventh leading type of cancer in the
nation and the fifth most common cancer in women; and
WHEREAS, Incidence of thyroid cancer is rising faster in
Pennsylvania than in any other state; and
WHEREAS, Researchers claim that the incidence of diagnosed
tumors that spread regionally or distantly in the body increased
significantly along with those diagnosed localized to the
thyroid; and
WHEREAS, While thyroid cancer is prevalent in both men and
women, more than two-thirds of cases are found in women; and
WHEREAS, When found early, thyroid cancer is treatable; and
