| A RESOLUTION |
| |
1 | Recognizing the week of October 17 through 23, 2010, as "Credit |
2 | Union Week" in Pennsylvania. |
3 | WHEREAS, Credit unions are individual, independent |
4 | cooperatives founded by people working together toward economic |
5 | advancement and uniting people seeking a way to improve their |
6 | future; and |
7 | WHEREAS, Credit unions call for the pooling of personal |
8 | resources and leadership abilities for the good of the |
9 | cooperative, provide low-cost financial services to their |
10 | members, encourage a regular habit of saving so those in need |
11 | may borrow and foster the desire to repay loans so members may |
12 | have access to credit when it is required; and |
13 | WHEREAS, Pennsylvania currently has 561 credit unions |
14 | empowering people to improve their economic situations by |
15 | serving the financial needs of 3,300,000 members associated |
16 | through local, State, regional and international organizations |
17 | sharing the same commitment to serving credit union members; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Credit unions encourage and sponsor activities to |
2 | promote the charitable acts of their members; and |
3 | WHEREAS, The unselfish efforts of volunteers organized |
4 | through credit unions have benefited many worthwhile causes |
5 | throughout this Commonwealth and beyond; therefore be it |
6 | RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize the week of October 17 |
7 | through 23, 2010, as "Credit Union Week" in Pennsylvania; and be |
8 | it further |
9 | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be transmitted to |
10 | the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association at 4309 N. Front St., |
11 | P.O. Box 60007, Harrisburg, PA 17106. |
