SENATE BILL

        INTRODUCED BY THOMPSON, ARMSTRONG, GERLACH, JUBELIRER,
           BRIGHTBILL, TILGHMAN, WENGER, PICCOLA, BELL, KUKOVICH, LOGAN,
           COSTA, PUNT, WILLIAMS, DENT, TARTAGLIONE, KITCHEN, TOMLINSON,
           EARLL, FUMO, LEMMOND AND ROBBINS, APRIL 3, 2001

        REFERRED TO TRANSPORTATION, APRIL 3, 2001

                                     AN ACT

     1  Designating a portion of U.S. Route 1 in Chester County as the
     2     John H. Ware III Memorial Highway.

     3     The General Assembly finds and declares as follows:
     4         (1)  John H. Ware, III was elected to represent Chester
     5     County in the Senate of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in
     6     1960 and served in that capacity until 1970.
     7         (2)  Senator Ware then served two terms in the House of
     8     Representatives of the Congress of the United States.
     9         (3)  Senator Ware died on July 29, 1997, at 88 years of
    10     age.
    11     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
    12  hereby enacts as follows:
    13  Section 1.  John H. Ware III Memorial Highway.
    14     The section of U.S. Route 1 in Chester County from the
    15  intersection of School House Road and Route 1 in East Malborough
    16  Township, Chester County, to the Maryland State Line in West
    17  Nottingham Township, Chester County, is hereby designated the

     1  John H. Ware III Memorial Highway.
     2  Section 2.  Signs.
     3     The Department of Transportation shall erect and maintain
     4  appropriate signs displaying the name of the highway to traffic
     5  in both directions on the highway.
     6  Section 3.  Effective date.
     7     This act shall take effect immediately.
