                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 75 (Vehicles) of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     2     Statutes, providing for a special plate for railroaders.

     3     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     4  hereby enacts as follows:
     5     Section 1.  Title 75 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     6  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     7  § 1361.  Special plate for railroaders.
     8     (a)  General rule.--Upon application of any person who is a
     9  railroader, accompanied by a fee of $20 which shall be in
    10  addition to the annual registration fee and by such
    11  documentation as the department shall require by regulation, the
    12  department shall issue to such person a special registration
    13  plate designating the vehicle so licensed as belonging to a
    14  person who is a railroader, working in the railroad industry.
    15  The special registration plate may be used only on a passenger
    16  car or truck with a gross weight of not more than 9,000 pounds.
    17  The plate shall bear the likeness of the railroad crossing light


     1  signal.
     2     (b)  Definition.--As used in this section, the term
     3  "railroader" means a person currently or formerly employed in
     4  the railroad industry or a surviving member of the railroader's
     5  family.
     6     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
