                                     AN ACT

     1  Amending Title 66 (Public Utilities) of the Pennsylvania
     2     Consolidated Statutes, providing for certain utilities to
     3     maintain service lines to customer residences.

     4     The General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
     5  hereby enacts as follows:
     6     Section 1.  Title 66 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated
     7  Statutes is amended by adding a section to read:
     8  § 1501.2.  Certain utilities to maintain service lines to
     9             customer residences.
    10     Every public utility which provides electricity to the
    11  residence of a customer shall maintain all equipment from the
    12  service line of the public utility to the meter affixed to the
    13  residence and shall repair such equipment at the expense of the
    14  public utility, provided that the need for the maintenance was
    15  not caused by the negligence of the customer.
    16     Section 2.  This act shall take effect in 60 days.
